The Call
Setting expectations early is the easiest way to a good working relationship with the couple.
-Have fun with the call
We want this to be enjoyable for you and for all.
We always try to riff with them from the get go, I start asking them how they are doing then transition to the wedding details by congratulating them their big day coming up. I end the call by reiterating any important points and telling them how excited I am to work with them.
-Confirm logistics
In time/ Out time
Addresses for prep, ceremony, any spots around town for pictures, and reception
Transportation between locations/parking
If they have any questions about payment, let them know Ben or Thomas handles all monetary transactions.
Know when there are breaks in the schedule for you to have a snack and a drink of water.
-Find out more about their wedding preferences
Any relatives or traditions they want you to get photos of?
Who is going to be speaking at the ceremony and the reception?
Dress code? Is it a black tie wedding? or a beach wedding?
-Set expectations
It’s best if we eat when they eat.
We’ll mic up the groom for the ceremony.
Let them know that we are shooting candid footage during the ceremony/reception/prep/outdoor portraits as well as some minor posing footage during prep/outdoors portraits but we’ll try to keep it fun.
